August Challenges....finished!

Hi everyone!  Well I have been in my therapy room for the past couple days and finished the challenges I had signed up for, along with the Sketch from Scrapbook Challenges this week.

The first Layout I would like to share is for the Heritage Challenge at Scrapbook.com

This Layout is of my husband's great grandparents, his grandfather, and his mother when she was a little girl.  I used Webster's Pages Spring Market Collection, as well as other papers and embellishments from my stash.  The yellow and orange flowers were made  by a dear friend of mine Sondra aka Scrappy by Design.

I also  completed the challenge for Scrapbook Challenges Sketch #264.   All of these papers I have had  forever, and I decided to use up some of those brads that I have way too many of!
This Layout was challenging to me creatively...I literally had it done and tore it apart!  But when I look back through my grandson's book, the style fits with everything else I have done there. It also was a challenge to me mentally, because the content brings on alot of bittersweet memories and feelings.

There is one last challenge I did for at The Crop Room II.  We have a challenge each month for a card sketch, a layout sketch, and a section called create.  Here is the card I created...however it looks nothing like the sketch!  I really struggle when it comes to making cards too....I don't feel like I have gotten the hang of it, but I will keep trying.

This card was made entirely from scraps.  The background on the rub on shows teal, but it really is green and matches the background.  I made this for my husband in celebration of our 26th wedding anniversary today!

Hope you find inspiration in things around you, and that you can find the courage to scrap moments that don't always leave you with the happiest of feelings.

Monday's Sketch Inspiration

I really am going to try to be better about visiting all of the wonderful sites and blogs that I have signed up for inspiration!  It's because of all of you that I get my encouragement and some of my greatest ideas!  However with that said...I also need to create from those wonderful ideas!  :)

Today is Monday...and that means a new release for a sketch from: http://flyingunicornllc.blogspot.com/2011/08/mojo-monday-sketch_29.html

Here is her sketch:

Also on Monday there is a new sketch from Scrapbook Challenges.  Here is their sketch this week!

I had originally thought I would pick one or the other for Monday, but since they were so different from one another in style I thought why not choose both!

Hoping to get these done this week and will share with you my creations!  Keep your fingers crossed that I will find that time!

A Birdie Did It

I just have to share the cutest story.  While my 3 1/2 year old grandson was visiting last month he came up to me and said "Grandma there's a baseball in the pond."  I said "Really?  Did you throw it in there?" (We have been telling him not to throw the rocks into our little pond.)  He sorta looks upward and replies "No, a birdie did it!"  I just said "Oh, I will have to tell Papa to get it out of the pond." while trying not to laugh!

Hope your day is full of little smiles!

PS....There will be 2 posts today!  Watch later for a sketch maybe 2!

Hello to everyone!  I am watching the news about Hurricane Irene and saying prayers for all of the people that have been effected by this!

I hope everyone is staying safe ....no matter where you are!

A great big hug being sent from me!

Adorable interactive scrapbook

A friend of mine over at The Crop Room posted this link to this interactive scrapbook.  I was so taken by it I just had to share the link here.  So sorry I didn't pay enough attention when I viewed it to give the creator the proper respect here.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

August Challenges.

I have found a little time to create this month even with the whirlwind of activity.  I am in a few challenges over at scrapbook.com  One of them being the Darker Side Challenge hosted by http://scrapvamp.blogspot.com/ , a Cricut challenge hosted by Norma where you need to create 3 LOs or cards, or home decor using your cricut, and a heritage challenge hosted by Martica, and last but not least a Boy layout challenge hosted by http://www.arkmom-scrappilyeverafter.blogspot.com/.  I haven't quite finished all of the challenges as of yet, and have combined a couple.  We will see if I actually get these all done!  Sometimes I need the little push a challenge gives me to get something done.

This layout I created for the Darker Side Challenge with the theme Enchanted Forest and it also counts as one for the cricut  challenge since I used the Storybook Cartridge to make the embellishment to the left of the photo, the circles, the butterfly and the little hinges.  I cut the large embellishment out twice from cardstock and then pop dotted the silver swirl paper on top.  The photo was taken after my son's wedding in the yard at the church.  The bride had wished for snow on her wedding day and God answered that wish.  There was new fallen snow when they left the church that evening.

With this Layout I used again the storybook cartridge for the branches under the flowers, I believe it was accent essentials for the scalloped mat and the scallop around the clock, and tags, bags, boxes and more for the title.  I water distressed and rolled the edges of the Basic Grey Black Tie Paper.  The large black flourish was a rub on I found at my local $1 store and most of the flowers were used in artificial displays at the wedding.
This layout shows my daughter in law to be, her bridesmaid and the flower girl getting ready.  Our calm cool and collected bride by this time was getting a little stressed.  She is seen having her hair done and adding ribbon to the sheer sleeves that we created.

This is a very simple banner I created for our Vacation Bible School at church.  We needed something and it had to be done that day!  So I quick grabbed paper, stamps and white ink  from Close to my Heart and (what cartridge is my favorite?)  Storybook and created this, then hung it from some jute twine.
So I have now completed  my cricut challenge for the month along with the darker side challenge.  Let's see if with grandbabies coming in for 10 days and making 150 wedding invitations if I can get the other 2 done!

So just a head's up...if I'm not around it's that I have my lap full of grandchildren or my hands full of paper!

Pat A Cake

Hi friends!  Well as we all know I have this addiction to scrap booking...but my latest fetish is these paper bag albums.  I make one and I just can't get enough!  I get more ideas for more and more....you know how it goes.  Here is one I made a couple of weeks ago for a baby girl or  a  little girl's birthday.

When you open up the little bear card it has a spot for journaling.

I used several papers from my stash that I am still trying to make smaller on the Scrap Diet!
 Wild Asparagus Polka Dot
Pink, Brown and Ivory Bazzill Card stock
Debbie Mumm Paper Stack Cupcakes and Bears
Stampin Up Dot Texturz Template
Sizzix Hearts Texturz Template
Tim Holtz Ink
Brother Sewing Machine
Various Ribbons, Fibers, Flowers and Embellishments!

Thanks all for looking and the inspiration you have given me!  Hope to share some of the things I have been doing with challenges over the next couple days...before my home and arms are filled with grandchildren again!
