Homeless Caring Bags

Today I want to share with you what our Women's Ministry group pulled together at our "Jewels Cafe" yesterday.

Have you ever passed by those on the street that are homeless or are asking for money?  You know that we have been warned that some for some of them they will take the money that you give them and use it for drugs and alcohol, or that for some panhandlers they make alot more money than we do and this is their way of life.  If you are like me you always want to do something, but because of the warnings we have recieved you drive by and then feel a little guilty.  Well one of the ladies at our church gave us a great idea, so we had our church members donate the items that we needed to make up a bag that you can carry with you in the trunk of your car.  This way when you pass them on the street, you can give them things they need, and hopefully can use.  No longer do you need to feel guilty just going by.

Using a Gallon Zip loc bag fill Each Zip Loc Bag with:

Large Black Trash Bag...to be used as a rain poncho
Juice Box
Small Bottled Water
Protein or Granola Bar
Trial Size Shampoo
Small Bath Soap
Toothpaste & Toothbrush
Washcloth
Comb
Small pkg of Kleenex
Band Aids or Mini First Aid Kit
$5 or more Gift Card to a Fast Food Restaurant (McDonalds, Burger King, Etc)

You can also go the extra mile and use the Extra Large Ziploc bags I think they are 2 or 2 1/2 gallon bags and add socks, razors, deodorant, shaving creme, antibiotic ointment, mini sewing kit, gloves.

Thank you for taking the time to share some of the basic things that we take for granted everyday for those less fortunate than ourselves.

Blessings and Hugs!

Becky

That is a good idea!

You know all those little freebies you get at hotels would work too.

It's funny--my sister and I were just talking about this issue and how complicated it is. I love this idea and will be sharing it with her!
